Meet Kacey Taylor

Kacey Taylor's story is one of persistence, reinvention, and embracing new opportunities. Born and raised in the small town of Courtland, Alabama, Kacey grew up in a family that valued higher education. Her initial career path goal was to become a surgical technician, but after facing a few life challenges, she found herself at a crossroads. 

Determined to pivot quickly, Kacey enrolled in a certificate program at Calhoun Community College to learn about computer information systems. It was the early days of the internet and email, and she knew that technology was the future. What started as a short-term solution turned into a lifelong passion - one that lead her to earn both a bachelor's and master's degree in business administration with a concentration in information technology from the University of North Alabama. Now, she's an instructor for Huntsville Public Schools while pursuing her doctoral degree at Walden University. 

Discovering the Alabama Talent Triad 

Kacey stumbled upon the Alabama Talent Triad by accident, initially thinking that it was an employment requirement to sign up. She soon realized that it was much more: a full-scale talent marketplace that didn't just list jobs, but matched her with roles based on her skills and not just her job titles. 

"I didn't think much would come out of it, to tell you the truth. I was just following the process, thinking it was part of unemployment. Then I got an email from the VP [of the Alabama Talent Triad], and I was shocked! I was like, 'Wait a minute! I thought I had to search for jobs on here like you normally do.' Never had someone reached out to me saying 'Hey, I saw your profile and wanted to talk to you'. That was different." 

Kacey quickly realized that employers were searching for her, just as she was searching for opportunities. She called the Alabama Talent Triad "the new generation of hiring", a platform where skills take the center stage and jobseekers are valued for what they can do and not just where they've been. 

A New Role, A New Mission

Today, Kacey is not only a user of the Alabama Talent Triad, but a part of the team. As a Community Engagement Specialist, she connects with students, jobseekers and employers to share how the Alabama Talent Triad is transforming the way Alabamians discover opportunities. 

"It doesn't matter where you start. It's more important how you finish."
