What is an LER?
An LER, or Learning and Employment Record, is a digital record of learning and work that can be grouped together with other individual LERs for use in describing your abilities when pursuing education and employment opportunities. The Alabama Talent Triad (Alabama.me) enables you to collect, manage and share all your learning and earning evidence via a self-sovereign digital wallet and digital resume(s), giving you the power to decide and control what learning and earning data is shared and how it is shared.
Sync Validated Credentials and Skills from ALSDE Schools
Alabama students Grades 8-12 can “Opt-in” with parental consent in PowerSchool to enable automated “sync” of their individual learner data. Students who have opted in and who have completed career technical education (CTE) or career readiness indicator (CRI) programs during the 2020-21 school year or after can “Sync” ALSDE under “Add Credentials”, bringing all completed courses and credentials into your digital wallet as micro-credentials, automatically including the skills earned with each course when available. For a list of courses and programs available for automatic “sync”, see ALSDE in the Alabama Credential Registry.
Additional non-credit and industry badges and certificates acquired through these programs can be added using the connect, upload, embed and link options as appropriate.
Sync Validated Credentials and Skills from ACCS Colleges
Alabama Community College students who have completed for-credit programs during the 2020-21 school year or more recently can “Sync” ACCS under “Add Credentials”, bringing into your digital wallet all your certificate (short and long) and degree programs captured at the course level as micro-credentials, thereby automatically including the skills earned with each course. For a list of courses and programs available for automatic “sync”, see ACCS in the Alabama Credential Registry.
Additional non-credit and industry badges and certificates acquired through these programs can be added using the connect, upload, embed and link options as appropriate.

Alabama Adult Education students who have completed programs on or after January 1, 2020 can “Sync” Alabama Adult Education (ACCS) under “Add Credentials”, bringing into your digital wallet all your certificates (short and long) as micro-credentials, automatically including the skills earned with each course, when available. Connect Verified Apprenticeship Records from the US Office of Apprenticeship
Registered Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience with a mentor, receive progressive wage increases, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally recognized credential. Registered Apprenticeships are industry-vetted and approved and validated by the U.S. Department of Labor or a State Apprenticeship Agency.
You can "Connect" any Registered Apprenticeship record under "Add Credentials", bringing in the verified credential and associated skills into your digital wallet when available. You can explore Apprenticeships in Alabama by visiting the Alabama Credential Registry, the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship and the US Apprenticeship Finder.

Upload, Embed or Link Open Badges
Open Badges is the world's leading format for digital badges (credentials). Open Badges is not a specific product or platform, but rather a type of digital badge that is verifiable, portable, and packed with information about skills and achievements. A digital badge is a visual symbol of accomplishment. Digital badges can be awarded for any definable achievement and earned in various learning environments, games or the workplace. You can "Upload, Embed or Link" to Open Badges under "Add Credentials" from any source or provider including industry certifications, formal education institutions and more. We also support embedding CTDL credentials.
Connect Your Military Transcripts
"Connect" your military skills & experiences into your digital wallet under "Add Credentials" by uploading your JST (Joint Services Transcript), ETJ (Navy's Electronic Training Jacket) or VMET (Verification of Military Experience and Training) to the MilGears platform. MilGears analyzes your military duties and training to provide customized credentials, skills and experiences that contribute to your LER.

Your "Digital Wallet" is your personal space to hold and manage ALL your learning and earning data, which you can now assemble into your own personal Learning and Employment Record (LER).
Your "Digital Resume(s)" allows you to choose what you share with our matching algorithms and potential employers and education/training providers. You can export these curated versions of your LER in Comprehensive Learner Record (CLR) LER format.
